55 Lesson Plans Available from Project Food, Land & People

Yarn, grocery bags, and old magazines seem to be the backbone of all elementary school crafts. Project Food, Land & People (FLP), a 28-year-old educational non-profit, puts together those things and more to help teachers keep kids’ attention while learning about natural resources, agriculture, and the environment.

FLP has developed 55 lesson plans for preschoolers through 12th graders. The resources are for sale on FLP’s website and come with a guide to align the activities with California Common Core Standards.

Thanks to Jennifer Ray, program coordinator/communications for the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom for sending us some of those lesson plans, presented by FLP California coordinator Elmer Eckart at a recent CFAITC conference. Learn how to teach young kids about the seasons using yarn, make booklets using old magazines, and create student vests from grocery bags. If you like these, check out FLP’s website for more ideas.
