Kid Art Focuses on Fruits and Vegetables

The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center is kicking off a series of children’s art classes that are aligned with California’s visual arts standards. The focus of the first series of classes is “the many shades of fruits and vegetables,” using children’s picture books as resources.

Core Art for Kids, described as “an introduction to California State Content Standards in Visual Arts for children in grades K-6,” will give students a chance to try out acrylics, water color, pastels and colored pencils. Classes start Feb. 12.

Instruction will be tailored to students’ developmental stages. Students with special needs are encouraged to enroll.

The first series of classes target third- and fourth-graders. Classes will run from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Feb. 12, 19, and 26, at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center, 9080 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove. Cost is $50 per class or $135 for all three classes. All materials are included in the price.

Registration is online. For more information, call the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center at 916-685-5992.
