Summer Means Saving on School Supplies

Summer means hot weather, barbecues, swimming, lazy days and screaming good deals on school supplies. Most of us don’t like to think about school during summer vacation, but the truth is, this is when the school shopping is juiciest.

Office Depot/Office Max is selling basics for pennies – in some cases, quite literally. If your town doesn’t have an Office Depot or Office Max, go online for deals. Office Depot/Office Max is also attracting customers with kids by offering activities for children in many stores throughout the summer, like the July 7 build a parachute workshop with educational materials provided by Scholastic. The office supply chain will give schools credit for supplies when shoppers show a school ID, and the stores sponsor a drive for donations to needy schools.

Staples is cornering the student market this month with its own deals. Plus, teachers with ID can attend teacher appreciation days scheduled next month for freebies and deals. Days vary depending on the store so check the website and make a note on your calendar.

Target has some awesome deals every year and usually doesn’t place a limit on how many a customer can buy. That means teachers can buy for an entire classroom or parents can stock up the family for an entire year.

Sewing supplies might not be on a teacher’s mind as the first day of school creeps closer, but Joann Stores offers a teacher discount that can be used on your own craft supplies or for those used in your classroom. Joann Stores offer teacher appreciation days periodically. Check Joann’s Facebook page for dates. A bonus: Joann shares its teacher discounts with homeschool teachers.
